Polaroid of the Week: Stunning Cherry Blossom Carpet at Brooklyn Botanic Garden, NYC

Since returning to New York City, I haven't had a moment to pause. From day one, I've tackled immigration essentials to establish myself as a legal resident: opening a bank account, securing insurance, and learning tax filing procedures. To my surprise, I found an apartment and part-time job faster than expected! While still technically homeless (no Central Park benches needed), I've started working—and secured more than part-time hours, providing essential income I'll detail in my May roundup next week. Balancing my new role, freelance writing, and this blog has been tough, but I plan to streamline once things settle.

Thankfully, I enjoyed NYC's vibrant spring weather before my 70-hour workweeks began. One sunny morning, my friend Kristin and I photographed at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, a cherished urban oasis. We caught the cherry blossom season's finale, with petals forming a breathtaking carpet across the grounds. Short on free time, I've varied my daily runs to see spring blooms citywide—from Randall's and Governors Islands to Central Park, Prospect Park, and bridges over the Manhattan and Brooklyn.

Next month, I hope to explore the city more, including a beach getaway!

Ive been fascinated by Colombias Lost City, or Ciudad Perdida (Teyuna), since learning about it years ago. Discovered in 1972, much of it has been reclaimed by nature—overgrown with trees, ferns, and moss-covered stones.Reaching Teyuna demands a grueling four-day trek: two days hiking in through dense jungle, steep mountains, and
