Polaroid of the Week: Spectacular 4th of July Fireworks Over New York City

Polaroid of the Week: Spectacular 4th of July Fireworks Over New York CityI must apologize for the lower quality of this week's Polaroid, but the 4th of July fireworks were undoubtedly the highlight of my week. My first 4th of July in New York City was perfect, starting with Germany's thrilling World Cup victory over France, advancing to the semi-finals (fingers crossed for Tuesday's match!). It continued with an exciting Brazil game and culminated in a classic American BBQ on a Brooklyn rooftop terrace—complete with a Star-Spangled Banner cake for America's birthday!

From our vantage point, we had stunning views of Macy's grand 4th of July fireworks display—the first over the East River (rather than the Hudson facing New Jersey) since 2008. For 25 breathtaking minutes, fireworks launched from river barges and the Brooklyn Bridge. This was only my third 4th of July in the US, and the best one yet.

Other highlights included more World Cup matches (this tournament is thrilling yet time-intensive—glad it's nearing the end) and beautiful summer days exploring Bushwick, my new neighborhood (more details coming soon!). Here's hoping Germany's World Cup win on Sunday is next week's highlight.

American readers: Where did you spend the holiday weekend? Everyone else: Which team are you rooting for? 😊

Ive been fascinated by Colombias Lost City, or Ciudad Perdida (Teyuna), since learning about it years ago. Discovered in 1972, much of it has been reclaimed by nature—overgrown with trees, ferns, and moss-covered stones.Reaching Teyuna demands a grueling four-day trek: two days hiking in through dense jungle, steep mountains, and
