Polaroid of the Week: Capturing New York City s Christmas Magic

Can you believe that by my next Polaroid post, the holidays will be nearly over? Time truly flies! Lacking any Christmas spirit last week, I explored New York City's holiday markets, ice rinks, Fifth Avenue window displays at Saks and Macy's, and the iconic Rockefeller Christmas tree. NYC at Christmastime is pure magic! The over-the-top department store displays weren't entirely my taste, but the children's wide-eyed wonder made me smile.

That said, NYC's holiday markets feel like a subdued version of Europe's legendary ones—missing the mulled wine, sugar-roasted almonds, and other festive treats. The ice rinks reminded me I haven't skated this winter yet (the lines are endless; I'll wait until after the holidays). I can't wait to hit the ice!

Baking another batch of Christmas cookies is on my list for next week—it might just spark that holiday mood.

Happy Holidays, everyone! Where are you spending Christmas this year? Share your tips for getting into the spirit in the comments below!

P.S. There's still time to enter my Christmas giveaway for a €150 gift card to Radisson Blu or Park Inn hotels (more details here), and to win a copy of Arthur Frommer’s brand new Europe 2016 guidebook (more details here).

Ive been fascinated by Colombias Lost City, or Ciudad Perdida (Teyuna), since learning about it years ago. Discovered in 1972, much of it has been reclaimed by nature—overgrown with trees, ferns, and moss-covered stones.Reaching Teyuna demands a grueling four-day trek: two days hiking in through dense jungle, steep mountains, and
