Polaroid of the Week: Enchanted by Venice's Timeless Allure

Polaroid of the Week: Enchanted by Venice s Timeless AllureVenice marked the perfect grand finale to my tour of northern Italy. As a seasoned traveler, I was thrilled to rediscover this iconic city with my DSLR camera.

My previous visit predated digital photography, so I eagerly captured Venice—one of the world's most photogenic destinations—over two unforgettable days in the lagoon city, a highlight of my September adventures.

While a single photo can't do justice, stay tuned for a comprehensive photo essay showcasing canal-side strolls, panoramic views from St. Mark's Campanile, navigating Piazza San Marco's crowds, savoring iconic spritz aperitivos, and finding serenity in quieter squares and alleys beyond the Grand Canal.

Even arriving on a late-September Monday—post-peak cruise season—Venice felt busier than before. I avoided dwelling on high-season crowds or past reports of overtourism from massive daily cruise ship arrivals (up to 30,000 visitors). Escaping the throngs was straightforward.

The city's enduring magic shone through: narrow canals, gondola serenades, myriad bridges, historic architecture, and ancient churches. Venice's structures, many over 600 years old, create an enchanting timelessness. Wandering at night, with the city largely to myself, evoked centuries past.

Exploring Izamal, Mexicos enchanting Yellow City, has been a highlight of my latest Yucatán road trip. This serendipitous journey marks my third visit to Mexico in just one year—each unplanned trip more rewarding than the last. This time, my companion and I set out on a leisurely two-week road trip circling the entire Yucatán Peninsula, with ample time to discover new gems. Izamal, alongside beloved Valladolid, is one of Yucatáns two Pueblos Mágicos (Magic Towns), a designation from Mexicos Sec

  • Polaroid of the Week: Snowy New York City Transformed into a Winter Wonderland

After returning from Israel, I had just a few days in Germany to pack my essentials and bid farewell to friends and family before flying back to New York. Upon arrival, I realized how fortunate I was—flying a day later would have been impossible due to a massive blizzard that canceled over 1,700 flights across all three airports. As a first-time witness to such an intense snowstorm (Germany gets snow, but nothing like this), I was mesmerized watching 10 inches (30 cm) blanket the city in hours

When it rains, it pours, as the saying goes—and thats been literal and figurative lately. Torrential downpours flooded Guadalajaras streets today, reminding me of Seattles relentless rains. Amid personal challenges and tough news, Ive been in a slump, but this trip is lifting my spirits.Arriving in Mexico felt like coming home—spotting that familiar OXXO store outside the airport terminal sealed it. Mexicos comforting vibe has eased me back into solo travel, and the mostly perfect weather has be
