Polaroid of the Week: Springtime Bliss in New York City

Polaroid of the Week: Springtime Bliss in New York CityBright blooming flowers, warm rains, sunny skies, and electric excitement in the air—a collective relief from millions as winter ended, buzzing with summer's romantic promise. Offered a housesitting gig in New York that spring, we jumped at it. Endless summers in Thailand, Cambodia, India, Mexico, Costa Rica, Buenos Aires, and Santiago had skipped fall and winter for us, but spring's magic was unforgettable.

Chasing eternal summer, we'd almost forgotten spring's sensory delights, especially its scents! Tulips burst from public gardens and balconies, pink and white blossoms brightening streets for weeks. Daytime walks were ideal: warm for flip-flops, no jackets needed. Even storms—rising humidity, thunder, lightning, then fresh, rain-washed air—were enjoyable.

Spring is the ultimate time to live in New York City!

  • Polaroid of the Week: Bangkok s Vibrant Concrete Jungle – City of Life

After accumulating several weeks in Bangkok across multiple recent visits—including one extended stay unexpectedly—it’s surprising that it hasn’t appeared in our Polaroid of the Week series until now. On my latest trip, I first noticed the city’s slogan, City of Life. While not particularly inventive, it rings true: Bangkok hums with energy at all hours. Our top pick for a New York City hotel? Hands down, the Library Hotel. Inspired by the New York Public Library just a block away, this boutique property masterfully weaves a literary theme throughout. Rooms and floors follow the Dewey Decimal System—think Social Sciences, Languages, Philosophy—with each room dedicated to a specific subject. We stayed in the corner Law Room suite on the Social Sciences floor, surrounded by legal tomes on shelves, tables, and nightstands. A few more nights, and we

With just one more Polaroid from New York before departing for South America, Im filled with mixed emotions. Excitement builds as I plan my trip, envisioning pristine Caribbean beaches and finalizing details for my arrival in Colombia in under two weeks. Yet, leaving this vibrant city is bittersweet. As temperatures drop, it feels like the right time to go, knowing Ill return to warmer days without the need for heavy winter gear.Last week, friends returned from holiday travels, pulling me back i
