Polaroid of the Week: Stunning Sunset Over the Statue of Liberty
After an action-packed week, a relaxing spa getaway sounds ideal. Highlights included hosting out-of-town visitors—first-time New Yorkers—who reignited my appreciation for the city's magic through fresh eyes.
I crafted a budget-friendly, comprehensive itinerary packed with unique experiences: street fairs in Manhattan, flea and food markets in Williamsburg, a pizza picnic in Brooklyn Bridge Park, the aerial tram to Roosevelt Island, salsa dancing in Coney Island, Central Park's hidden gems, the full Brooklyn Bridge walk, and the entire High Line Park. They raved about spots overlooked by standard guides. This photo captures the sunset from our free cruise past the Statue of Liberty—ride the Staten Island Ferry from Manhattan 45 minutes before sunset and return after dark.
Beyond hosting, I moved apartments, toured NYC's top rooftop bars, revisited the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, explored the Bronx for the first time, baked cupcakes for a friend's birthday celebrated on a Brooklyn rooftop, played bocce ball, and attended an outdoor dance party—all while keeping up with work.
Despite the whirlwind, it was unforgettable. New York has never felt more vibrant.
