Polaroid of the Week: Breathtaking Sunset Over Austin, Texas
I apologize if my enthusiasm for Austin feels relentless—I've praised this quirky Texas capital before here and here, and even listed 33 reasons I adore it. Since arriving in New York last week, I've been sharing Austin's charms nonstop, nearly overlooking that I'm back in my favorite city.
My final week in Austin delivered the perfect local immersion, guided by a longtime resident who knows every corner. We explored East Austin's vibrant bars, including the stylish Weather Up (with a Brooklyn outpost I somehow missed near my old neighborhood), discovered the thrill of pinball arcades (NYC needs these!), savored craft beers, a delicious meal, and a film at the iconic Alamo Drafthouse—restaurant service in a theater is genius (and Brooklyn's getting one soon!). We capped it with a midnight bite at Magnolia Cafe, famed from Food Network's Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives.
My Austin love story ended memorably: after a rainy week of storms and floods, the sun emerged for my last evening. My run along the Colorado River culminated in this stunning sunset, leaving me warm and nostalgic. Austin, I'll be back—thank you for the unforgettable memories!
