Polaroid of the Week: Breathtaking Panorama Over Tel Aviv from Jaffa's Hilltop

Polaroid of the Week: Breathtaking Panorama Over Tel Aviv from Jaffa s HilltopLast week, I spent much of my time in Israel before returning to a snowy Berlin—a stark contrast. Thursday saw me jogging in a tank top along Tel Aviv's beach, while Friday had me running across the icy Tempelhof airfield.

After Jerusalem, we bused to Tel Aviv, one of my favorite cities worldwide. It capped my trip perfectly: sunny and warm after cooler days, staying at a luxurious beachfront hotel. We enjoyed morning runs on the promenade, strolls through Carmel and Jaffa flea markets, and devoured sabich sandwiches (twice at the iconic Frishman-Dizengoff spot). Tel Aviv's bike-sharing system helped burn calories. We explored Old Jaffa's ancient port, Florentin's street art, and a new indoor food market where I savored an Israeli microbrew—ending my 'Dryanuary' detox just in time.

This Polaroid captures my go-to Tel Aviv viewpoint: midway up the hill entering Jaffa at the city's southern end. It offers sweeping coastal and skyline views, with new cranes signaling ever-evolving skyscrapers. I can't wait to see the changes on my next visit.

After my Galápagos Islands cruise, I needed a respite in Guayaquil—Ecuadors largest city and one of South Americas major seaports—to catch up on work and sift through hundreds of backed-up emails. While tourist attractions are limited, the revitalized Malecón 2000 riverwalk offered ideal morning runs and lively evening vibes, from people-watching to an IMAX screening of La La Land. North of the Malecón lies Las Peñas, Guayaquils oldest neighborhood, with vibrant houses cascading up Cerro Santa

  • Polaroid of the Week: Breathtaking Aerial Views of Manhattan from Roosevelt Island Tram

This week, we ventured beyond our usual Manhattan and Brooklyn haunts. With friend Rease in town, we explored Roosevelt Island—a slender gem in the East River between Queens and Manhattan. Despite its proximity to the Upper East Side, it remains off the typical tourist trail. While the F train works, arrive in style via the aerial tram from bustling Lexington Avenue, offering sweeping vistas of Manhattans skyscrapers, lively streets, and the East River. As our cable car ascended, we confirmed: v
