Polaroid of the Week: Breathtaking Aerial Views of Manhattan from Roosevelt Island Tram

Polaroid of the Week: Breathtaking Aerial Views of Manhattan from Roosevelt Island TramThis week, we ventured beyond our usual Manhattan and Brooklyn haunts. With friend Rease in town, we explored Roosevelt Island—a slender gem in the East River between Queens and Manhattan. Despite its proximity to the Upper East Side, it remains off the typical tourist trail. While the F train works, arrive in style via the aerial tram from bustling Lexington Avenue, offering sweeping vistas of Manhattan's skyscrapers, lively streets, and the East River. As our cable car ascended, we confirmed: viewing the city from above—amid cars and iconic yellow cabs—is the ultimate way to experience Manhattan.

Thankfully, it downgraded to a tropical depression, though strong enough to suspend ferry services to the mainland. We stayed put in San Pedro until it passed, with no major damage reported anywhere.

This isnt my sharpest photo from last week, but it captures my purest joy: the moment Germany clinched the World Cup! I watched the final with an international crew—Americans, Germans, a Ukrainian, and a Brazilian—at the public viewing under Brooklyns Manhattan Bridge. The tension had me on edge, nearly in tears, doubting till the end. But the soccer gods delivered: Germany triumphed over Argentina in an epic finale. After 64 unforgettable matches over 31 days, New York buzzed with energy—the pe
