Polaroid of the Week: Unveiling the Aromatic Spices of India

Polaroid of the Week: Unveiling the Aromatic Spices of IndiaStrolling through the vibrant streets of Indian towns, we're greeted by an intoxicating array of aromas wafting from homes and eateries. Renowned worldwide for its bold flavors, Indian cuisine draws from native spices like cardamom, cumin, turmeric, coriander, and cinnamon. We immersed ourselves in these sensory delights, browsing roadside spice shops brimming with fresh heaps. Though we couldn't visit Goa's spice farms this trip, their abundance offers endless opportunities to witness these culinary treasures in cultivation.

Contrary to popular belief, Indian dishes aren't overwhelmingly fiery. While we noted the milder heat, each new bite unleashed a symphony of complex flavors, leaving us enchanted, savoring every nuance and pondering the secret recipes.

What's your favorite Indian dish?

Locals boarded up windows, ferries shut down, but it weakened to a tropical depression before striking. We rode it out safely in our hotel. Last year, en route from New York to New Orleans, Hurricane Irene forced a scenic detour through the Blue Ridge Mountains,
