Bangkok's Purr Cat Café: A Cozy Haven for Cat Lovers and Coffee Enthusiasts
A Cat Lover's Delight: As a self-proclaimed cat enthusiast, I've always been drawn to these independent, charismatic creatures. Though I've grown fond of dogs lately and envision sharing my future home with one, cats hold a special place in my heart with their unique personalities that never fail to brighten my day.
Fellow travelers can attest: I can't pass a cat without a gentle pat (hand sanitizer is my constant companion 😊), and countless photos from my 100,000+ travel snaps feature felines. Destinations like Malaysia, Turkey, Italy, and Buenos Aires, teeming with street cats, fill me with joy. For my birthday in Argentina, my wish was a peaceful afternoon in Buenos Aires' Botanical Gardens, home to dozens of stray cats.
For years, I've dreamed of visiting a cat café—those charming spots where you sip coffee amid playful cats. Originating in Taiwan in 1998, they've proliferated across Asia, especially Japan (over 150 locations) and South Korea, where pet restrictions in rentals make them ideal for feline fixes.
Just before arriving in Bangkok, a blog post tipped me off to a local cat café—perfect timing during a cat-craving phase. After a lackluster Berlin experience (just two elusive cats and broken coffee gear), I tempered expectations, but they were soon exceeded.
Purr Cat Café embodies the ideal: a snug space brimming with stunning cats, some interactive, others simply mesmerizing to observe.

Entry requires shoe removal, provided slippers, and hand washing. Eye-catching cat-themed cakes vied for attention with fluffy Maine Coons—pure bliss.
Settling at a low table on the carpet, I immersed in the feline scene. Rules ensure cat comfort (no picking up or waking sleepers), but plenty engage playfully (no feeding, of course).
I relaxed, played, cuddled, and snapped photos, emerging mood-lifted by these enchanting beings.
Surprisingly diverse patrons included men equally smitten.
Adjacent shop offers cat-themed souvenirs—tempting, but not yet for me. I'll return to Purr Cat Café Club and explore Caturday Café next Bangkok trip.
