Polaroid of the Week: Serene Beach Moments in Palomino, Colombia
This week's Polaroid captures my sheer delight upon arriving at the beach in Palomino, Colombia. Though not my most graceful jump, it reflects the joy of the moment. Unfortunately, shortly after, my bungalow was burglarized in broad daylight. I lost little, but the sight of my belongings scattered across the floor was unsettling. The intruder likely fled interrupted. I'll detail this in my monthly roundup, but rest assured, it didn't overshadow the trip.
This week was otherwise exceptional. I trekked through Tayrona National Park, where lush jungle meets the Caribbean coast on a demanding 5-hour hike. I also visited Bahía Concha, a protected bay within the park ideal for swimming—unlike other beaches with treacherous currents.
Palomino, the easternmost stop on my coastal journey, draws backpackers with its relaxed vibe, unlike the family-filled Bahía Concha. Rare finds included a vegetarian restaurant and yoga classes. Rough waves limited ocean swims to quick dips, but tubing down the nearby river provided perfect relaxation after the incident. Fingers crossed for no more surprises—statistics are on my side now.
