Polaroid of the Week: Koh Rong's Hidden Paradise – Cambodia's Ultimate Secluded Beach

Polaroid of the Week: Koh Rong s Hidden Paradise – Cambodia s Ultimate Secluded BeachHow far would you go for a day on a 7km stretch of nearly deserted white-sand beach?

After searching in Thailand and nearly finding it in Malaysia, we discovered our ideal Southeast Asian beach in Cambodia: endless white sands, ankle-deep crystal-clear waters 100 feet offshore, and hardly a soul around.

This gem is on Koh Rong, a small island two hours off Cambodia's coast. Reaching it demands a one-hour semi-strenuous hike in intense April heat, culminating in a 75-meter near-vertical scramble using an aged rope. All the effort – swearing, slips, falls, and sweat – vanishes instantly upon arrival.

Stepping onto 'our beach' made every challenge worthwhile, even the tough return trek over the mountain to our guesthouse that evening.

  • Polaroid of the Week: Unwinding at Talpe Beach, Sri Lanka s Pristine Coastal Gem

After attending the TBCasia conference, touring Sri Lankas key sights, and connecting with its welcoming locals, I sought a serene spot to recharge and tackle work. Sri Lankas 830-mile (1,300 km) coastline delivers plenty of such havens. I headed south from Colombo via a refreshing

Previously, during my Asia travels, Thai islands didnt captivate me as much as Southeast Asias other gems or the Caribbeans stunning shores Id known before.Yet Koh Tao exceeded expectations. W

  • Polaroid of the Week: Meeting Miguel de San Miguel on Lake Petén Itzá

We had just arrived in Guatemala and spent a couple of days in Flores, a picturesque island town on Lake Petén Itzá. One sunny afternoon, lounging on the dock, a friendly Guatemalan anciano (elderly gentleman) approached to chat. He introduced himself as Miguel de San Miguel from the village of San Miguel across the lake. At 85 years old, Miguel had lived his entire life by the lake, dedicating most of it to extracting chicle from sapodilla trees in the nearby jungles. His warmth captivated us,
