Polaroid of the Week: Idyllic Lazy Beach Days on Cambodia's Otres Beach

Polaroid of the Week: Idyllic Lazy Beach Days on Cambodia s Otres BeachI spent most of the past week unwinding on Cambodia's stunning beaches. After enduring the intense March heat—which escalates in April—it was the ideal time to escape to the coast and savor my final days in this favorite destination as my Cambodian adventure drew to a close.

During my whirlwind tour of Cambodia, I was thrilled to rediscover the unwavering friendliness of the locals, the mouthwatering cuisine, and the breathtaking beaches. Otres Beach remains my absolute favorite. I spent little time in Sihanoukville (just enough to explore Shoka Beach, pictured above) and instead rented a cozy bungalow in Otres, about five kilometers outside town.

My most active pursuit was leisurely long walks along the shoreline. The rest of the time? Lounging in beach chairs, writing, and finally indulging in a book—the first in months! I've missed reading dearly and am delighted with my improved time management. Nothing tops the daily sunset ritual: $0.75 beers and chill-out music in the background.

Cambodia, reconnecting with you has been magical. I eagerly await my next visit!

  • Polaroid of the Week: Exploring Austin, Texas – TravelCon and Top City Highlights

Last week, I returned to one of my favorite U.S. cities: Austin. This marked my second visit this year, following a delightful long weekend in February that offered a welcome escape from the East Coast winter. The primary draw was the inaugural TravelCon, a standout conference featuring 80 speakers and 600 attendees. It exceeded expectations, and Ill be attending the next one in Boston in June 2019. To fully immerse myself, I scheduled three days before and after the event to revisit beloved foo

  • Polaroid of the Week: The Berlin Wall – A Symbol of Division and Reunification

This stark concrete barrier loomed menacingly in Berliners daily lives for 29 years, dividing their city. While most sections were swiftly dismantled after reunification, key remnants endure, including the East Side Gallery—a vast outdoor mural showcasing provocative street art. Other preserved fragments remain eerily unchanged. The Walls fall holds deep personal significance for us: as a couple from the former GDR and America, it made our meeting possible, highlighting how todays global mobil

Weve had an unforgettable time in Chicago these past few weeks, reconnecting with friends and family while rediscovering the citys magic. One highlight was viewing the Bean—officially Cloud Gate—on a crystal-clear autumn night. Created by British artist Anish Kapoor and unveiled in 2006, this stunning sculpture anchors Millennium Park. Its a tourist favorite, but it never fails to reignite our love for Chicago during family visits. The Beans mirrored surface warps the citys legendary skyline, invi
