Polaroid of the Week: Crisp Autumn Vibes in Berlin's Historic Cemetery
While I typically gravitate toward Berlin's vibrant outer neighborhoods, skipping the tourist-heavy Mitte (meaning 'central'), this visit was different. Staying centrally positioned me perfectly for walking to the Festival of Lights installations, prompting a fresh exploration of the area.
This choice revealed Mitte's hidden treasures, especially its food scene. I savored exceptional Vietnamese spots like Madami, Pho Hoi, Good Morning Vietnam, and Chen Che; the ultimate vegan burrito (Vegan Lover at Dolores); and outstanding coffee at Father Carpenter Coffee Brewers, Ben Rahim, and Oslo Kaffeebar.
Favorites like Kaschk (craft beer by night, coffee by day), St. Oberholz (ideal for work sessions), and Barn Roastery (Berlin's top coffee) proved just a short walk away. Prenzlauer Berg's array of cool bars and restaurants was nearby too. Basecamp at Alexanderplatz made wardrobe shopping for my next adventure effortless (stay tuned for my monthly roundup—any guesses?).
Venturing out, I lunched with a friend in Kreuzberg, roamed Prenzlauer Berg for a photography project (stumbling upon St. Mary's and St. Nicholas Cemetery, site of this week's Polaroid), and enjoyed a wine bar crawl. Berlin never ceases to surprise, endlessly expanding my 'must-visit' list despite my familiarity. (Check out all my Berlin posts here).
To conquer it all, I might need to relocate! For now, after family time in Germany, my backpack awaits the next journey.
