Polaroid of the Week: Farewell to Brooklyn (For Now)
Suddenly, my final weekend in New York City has arrived. As always, I'm reluctant to leave, but winter has firmly settled on the East Coast. The mild Christmas Eve weather feels like a distant memory, and while I've coped better than expected—cycling through Brooklyn and running in the park—even extreme cold snaps (down to 19°F/-12°C, amplified by arctic winds) have me eagerly awaiting Colombia's sunny Caribbean shores. I've finally delved into detailed trip planning, building excitement for this long-awaited adventure.
In the past seven days, I've bid heartfelt goodbyes, reuniting with friends and indulging in NYC favorites—like visiting two top pizza spots. I strolled the sunny High Line (spotting early spring blossoms), sipped cocktails at a chic rooftop bar, explored the long-awaited Museum of the Moving Image, enjoyed a booze cruise around Manhattan, hosted a dinner party, savored afternoon tea at Alice's Tea Cup, and relaxed at my beloved Brooklyn Bridge Park. There, I captured this Polaroid of a striking sculpture by Brooklyn artist Deborah Kass, installed just months ago. Winter visits pale compared to summer sunsets or lazy afternoons with a book, but the panoramic views never disappoint, year-round.
Farewell for now, New York! My next Polaroid comes from Cartagena.
