Polaroid of the Week: Vibrant Street Art in Williamsburg, Brooklyn
After a grueling 26-hour journey from Germany to New York—complete with a forgotten ESTA printout and a delayed connecting flight from Oslo—I finally touched down in the U.S. The kind Norwegian Air staff let me check in, but the delay cost me my hotel room. Despite the mishaps, I'm now settling into my first 10 days back, which have been busier than anticipated.
New York welcomed me with its first truly warm, sunny days of the year—high 70s, feeling more like summer than spring. The city buzzed with people soaking up the weather. Before my housesit on the Upper West Side and my upcoming 10K in Central Park, I took time to recharge and revisit Williamsburg, my favorite Brooklyn neighborhood.
Since my last visit in November, not much has changed, but I wandered its streets, spotting fresh street art, chic shops, bakeries, and spots like the 'American Flag' mural above. I joined freelancers at coffee 'offices,' indulging in delicious eats amid the creative energy.
My first morning run along the East River—breathing in the salty air amid familiar sights and sounds—confirmed I'd made the right call returning. New York feels like home.
