Polaroid of the Week: Stunning Street Art in Bushwick, Brooklyn
When I arrived in New York last week, locals joked that I had brought summer with me. The spring had been unusually cold and rainy until my weekend arrival—a reassurance for skipping most of May in the city for four weeks in Austin (yes, my FOMO is real, and that decision wasn't easy!). I even considered extending my Austin stay—I loved it that much—but unforeseen circumstances shifted my plans (details soon).
With just eight days in my adopted home, I maximized every moment: savoring a classic New York bagel (✓), devouring pizza at Roberta's (✓—nearly worth missing my flight; still NYC's best), discovering fresh street art in Bushwick, indulging in Smorgasburg street food, admiring Central Park's spring blossoms, and reconnecting with friends. My ambitious list was longer, but I also squeezed in daily runs in Prospect Park, Brooklyn bike rides, and brunch at Cheryl's Global Soul (highly recommended). It felt incredible to be 'home' in the Big Apple.
More highlights: scouting new workspaces, enjoying two lively nights out, sunbathing in Madison Square Park, strolling the West Village (a top neighborhood), and an impromptu visit to Dominique Ansel Kitchen for a decadent chocolate Nutella swirl croissant. I also tried new Middle Eastern spots—Taim and Kulushkat both earned thumbs up.
These experiences built excitement for my next stop: the upcoming Polaroid of the Week hails from Berlin, where I'll indulge in Middle Eastern cuisine for eight days and host a special visitor.
