Polaroid of the Week: Brooklyn Bridge and Manhattan Skyline from Our Housesit in Brooklyn

Polaroid of the Week: Brooklyn Bridge and Manhattan Skyline from Our Housesit in BrooklynAfter months of hostels and grueling 20+ hour bus rides, settling into our Brooklyn apartment feels nothing short of miraculous. We adore the neighborhood—at least a dozen corner shops and supermarkets stocked with everything we need, plus those cuddly cats roaming the streets.

The highlight of our New York housesit? It grants us nearly eight weeks to explore every hidden corner of the Big Apple at a leisurely pace, with ample time to recover from our whirlwind tour through Chile, Argentina, and Uruguay.

We've visited New York before, but only for rushed days cramming in iconic sights. This time is different. Instead of a one-off trip, I jog across the Brooklyn Bridge and return via the Manhattan Bridge. Missed a perfect skyline sunset shot? We simply return the next night. Cafés, bagel shops, and farmers' markets aren't just backdrop—we pop in whenever we like.

Just weeks ago, we hiked the world's driest desert, gasping at high altitude amid pink flamingos on salt flats. Now, we wander New York's neighborhoods, work at trendy cafés serving flawless flat whites, grab breakfast at the corner diner, and observe nannies, hipsters, bankers, students, delivery folks, and tourists sharing sidewalks and subways. True New York immersion? Impossible amid lines for the Statue of Liberty or Empire State Building climbs. This is just one reason we love housesitting!

  • Polaroid of the Week: Snowy New York City Transformed into a Winter Wonderland

After returning from Israel, I had just a few days in Germany to pack my essentials and bid farewell to friends and family before flying back to New York. Upon arrival, I realized how fortunate I was—flying a day later would have been impossible due to a massive blizzard that canceled over 1,700 flights across all three airports. As a first-time witness to such an intense snowstorm (Germany gets snow, but nothing like this), I was mesmerized watching 10 inches (30 cm) blanket the city in hours

  • Polaroid of the Week: A Magical Winter Day in New York City s Central Park

On my journey from Peru to Germany, I couldnt resist a brief stopover in New York City, my favorite city in the world. Unbeknownst to me, it coincided with a major snowstorm that canceled hundreds of flights over the next few days—fortunately not mine!I arrived feeling underprepared, wearing Converse canvas shoes and a light rain jacket in -13°C (8°F) with 10 cm (4 inches) of snow on the ground.Despite my unsuitable attire, I layered up and wandered through Central Park, transformed into an ench
