Polaroid of the Week: Al Fresco Opera Against the Iconic Manhattan Skyline
I've been overwhelmed by my workload lately, battling writer's block amid the soccer World Cup, social commitments, and New York City's nonstop summer events. Last week, I took a few guilt-free days off to recharge, explore the city, and spark my creativity. (Side note: I immersed myself so fully that I almost missed posting this week's Polaroid!)
It was an ideal week: guiding visitors through favorite neighborhoods, museums, and eateries; cheering soccer matches in beer gardens; hosting a rooftop barbecue; attending travel meetups; and celebrating Pride Week, capped by yesterday's massive New York Pride Parade. Recovering from 12 hours of festivities—following the Mermaid Parade and ahead of July 4th—I'm pacing myself for more vibrant weekends.
A serene highlight was Wednesday's Metropolitan Opera Summer Recitals in Brooklyn Bridge Park. The Lower Manhattan skyline framed unforgettable vocal performances. Crowds picnicked with dinners and wine (park rangers obliged) as sunset bathed the skyscrapers in light. In NYC through July 10? Don't miss these free outdoor gems.
