Polaroid of the Week: Savoring Berlin's Enchanting Summer Days

Polaroid of the Week: Savoring Berlin s Enchanting Summer DaysSpending the past week in Berlin ranks among my best recent decisions. I'd forgotten just how magical the summers are in this vibrant city (New York remains my top choice, with its unbeatable summer charm). Absent from Berlin's warm weather for two years, I immersed myself fully, capitalizing on the outdoor-centric lifestyle of these months. As someone who thrives outdoors, it was pure bliss.

My itinerary included writing at sidewalk cafés, sunset beers at the iconic Klunkerkranich rooftop bar (featured above), observing karaoke in Mauerpark (I skipped singing amid that crowd!), leisurely canal strolls, runs and walks in Tempelhof Field, scouting fresh street art and top coffee spots (Berlin's abundance is a welcome challenge), neighborhood explorations, and guiding a visitor. I also connected with new and old friends, indulging in Berlin's culinary highlights: lavish brunches, decadent cakes, Middle Eastern delights, veggie kebabs, market-fresh fruit, and oven-warm simits.

I always crave more time here, but Tuesday morning brings a train to Amsterdam—the kickoff to my European rail journey (details in my monthly roundup)!

  • Polaroid of the Week: Relaxing Beach Days on Koh Tao, Thailand

Ive returned to Thailand, and it feels incredible! After a brief stop in Bangkok, I continued my island-hopping adventure in the Gulf of Thailand.I finally explored Koh Tao, the smallest of the three iconic Gulf islands (alongside Koh Phangan and Koh Samui), which had topped my Thai islands list for years. Previously, during my Asia travels, Thai islands didnt captivate me as much as Southeast Asias other gems or the Caribbeans stunning shores Id known before.Yet Koh Tao exceeded expectations. W

  • Polaroid of the Week: A Perfect Sunny Beach Day in Brighton

After arriving in the UK from a scorching 100°F (38°C) New York day into a chilly 55°F (13°C) rainy morning, I worried my Brighton weekend—including the Pride Parade—might be washed out. Fortunately, the weather cleared by the time I reached Brighton by train. I headed straight to the beach to savor the blue skies and iconic pier. The pebble beach buzzed with families, couples, exchange students, and early Pride arrivals, all basking in the relaxed vibe. As a frequent visitor during my England

  • Polaroid of the Week: Gritty Street Art Meets Restored Elegance in Berlin s Kreuzberg

My summer Euro trip is in full swing, and Im thrilled with the fantastic weather. After Brighton, I headed to Berlin, embracing tourist mode to show a first-time visitor around. In Kreuzberg, I rediscovered why I love this city: beautifully restored pre-war buildings adorned with vibrant graffiti, even on doorways. I aimed for the striking Roa mural—one of my favorite street artists—though Ive photographed it many times before. This facade captures Berlins gritty-meets-pretty essence and the reb
