Polaroid of the Week: Seattle's Stunning Seward Park – A Runner's Haven
Though I'm now on a brief stopover in Los Angeles, I couldn't resist sharing one of my top running and hiking spots in Seattle. I was fortunate to enjoy Seward Park under sunny skies just before the rain returned for my final days (a classic Seattle farewell!).
Seattle's proximity to water is one of its greatest charms. From Puget Sound in the west—an inlet of the Pacific Ocean—to Lake Union between downtown and Fremont, or Lake Washington to the east, you're never far from the water's edge.
During my last week, I explored Green Lake in north Seattle, which boasts an excellent running loop. I regrettably missed the Burke-Gilman Trail along Lake Washington, recommended by friends—another reason to return, ideally in summer.
Among my favorite routes are Alki Beach in West Seattle, offering panoramic downtown views at sunset, and Seward Park on the southeastern shore. This gem occupies the forested Bailey Peninsula in Lake Washington, blanketed in lush rainforest. It features a perimeter trail, interior forest paths, and an amphitheater atop the hill—perfect for a summer outdoor show during Seattle's long days.
Until next time, Seattle. I'll be back...
