Polaroid of the Week: Breathtaking Winter Sunrise in Snowy Germany

Polaroid of the Week: Breathtaking Winter Sunrise in Snowy Germany

This week, I've prioritized family time and fitness as I gear up for a last-minute half marathon in Israel later this month. I teased this exciting return to Israel in my December 'Life Lately' round-up. The race route traces the Dead Sea—one of my top favorite spots—so despite not being in peak shape, I signed up without hesitation.

I skipped runs during my Berlin stay and visit with my brother, but back at my sister's, I've committed to daily 5K runs with her energetic dog Odie (who'd happily double it) and two 10Ks. Odie is my ultimate motivator. Freezing temps and snow test my resolve, with the toughest being a sunrise run at 13°F (-10°C)—stunning quiet snowy fields, colder than my prior low of 26°F (-3°C). Training for a desert race in winter extremes? What doesn't kill you makes you stronger! 😊

  • Polaroid of the Week: Vibrant Cartagena, Colombia

Ive finally arrived in Colombia after years of anticipation. Back in 2010, my journey began in the U.S., heading south through Mexico and Central America toward Tierra del Fuego. The plan included a scenic catamaran from Panama to Colombia via the stunning San Blas Islands—but after nine months in Latin America, we opted for Europe instead. Returning to South America years later, we focused on Argentina and Chiles summer, flying into Buenos Aires and reaching no farther north than Peru. Now, ne

  • Polaroid of the Week: Effortlessly Floating in Israel s Dead Sea

Last week, I embarked on an unforgettable road trip across Israel, from the Lebanese border in the north to Eilat on the Red Sea in the south, glimpsing the Egyptian and Jordanian borders during morning runs. Highlights abounded: the stunning blue grottoes of Rosh Hanikra near Lebanon, the historic fishing village of Akko, and the breathtaking Baháí Gardens in Haifa. Heading south, we reached the Dead Sea, where I hiked Masada at 5:30 a.m. for a sunrise vista, explored Ein Gedis desert oasis wat
