Polaroid of the Week: Majestic Temple of the Jaguar at Chichén Itzá

Chichén Itzá, one of Mexico's most iconic Mayan ruins and a New Seven Wonder of the World, spans 5 square kilometers. This UNESCO World Heritage site features intricate temples, bathhouses, and sacred structures, including the striking Temple of the Jaguar. Jaguars, a recurring motif in Mesoamerican art, symbolize strength, confidence, and divinity.

The complex is dominated by El Castillo, the grand pyramid with 91 steps ascending each of its four sides, constructed by the Maya between 600 and 900 AD.

The Mayan name "Chich'en Itzá" translates to "Mouth of the well of the water sorcerer." The Yucatán Peninsula lacks above-ground rivers, so ancient inhabitants relied on natural sinkholes known as cenotes for water. Chichén Itzá boasts two such cenotes, including the Cenote Sagrado (Sacred Cenote), where archaeologists have uncovered skeletons of sacrificed men and children, alongside treasures like gold, pottery, jade, and copper artifacts.

Choosing just one image from the 1,500 photos I captured during my week-long Ring Road adventure in Iceland was incredibly challenging. This photogenic paradise offers breathtaking landscapes, waterfalls, geysers, coastlines, and glaciers around every corner. I selected this striking icy scene—perfect for the Land of Ice—and cant wait to share more Icelandic wonders with you. Completing the full Ring Road circuit in one week was ambitious, but my travel companion Rease and I reveled in Icelands

My inaugural journey whisked me from Berlin to Amsterdam in under seven hours—a city I’ve explored multiple times, though my last visit was over a decade ago. With rave reviews of its beauty and my hazy memories, I spontaneously included it in my Euro train itinerary. Amsterdam’s distinctive charm captivated me instantly upon arrival: its iconic canals, legions of bicycles, stunning 17th-century merchant houses wi

Rather than sharing another Polaroid from Berlin, Ive chosen to highlight my current spot: Brighton, England, where Im spending much of this week. After visiting for Brighton Pride last summer, I never imagined returning so soon—travels often surprise me! (Recall my unexpected Amazon adventure in March? No plans for that either.)Just last week, a beach day in Brighton was the furthest thing from my mind, but Im thrilled with this turn. Summer sunshine finally graced Britain over the weekend, del
