12 Days of Christmas, Day 5: Enjoy Free Horse-Drawn 'Sleigh' Rides at The Market Common

12 Days of Christmas, Day 5: Enjoy Free Horse-Drawn Sleigh Rides at The Market Common

The Market Common becomes a vibrant holiday hub this December, packed with family-friendly events like complimentary photos with Santa, The Polar Bus Express, Santa happy hours, lunches, and bowling with Santa. Among our favorites: the enchanting horse-drawn 'sleigh' rides through the scenic district.

Every Sunday in December, hop on free carriage rides from 3 to 6 p.m. Pick up and drop-off is in front of Dolce Lusso Salon at the corner of Howard Avenue and Nevers Street, with a delightful loop showcasing The Market Common's holiday decorations and Christmas music. Kids find it truly magical, and it's ideally located near excellent restaurants for a post-ride dinner.

This outdoor experience promotes fresh air enjoyment, but maintain social distancing in line and wear masks. Due to COVID-19 protocols, only same-household parties ride together. Rides are weather-permitting—check The Market Common’s Facebook page for updates. Dress warmly and savor the crisp December evening at beautiful Market Common!

  • When Weather Delays the Trail: A Real‑Life Hiking Pause

Rain lashes the windscreen as we drive to the trailhead. We hear on the news that life has changed in other countries, and we worry about our own communities. But it’s not here yet – our only concern is the harsh weather. I crank up the heat and consider never getting out of the car. It hardly seems worth it. The mountains aren’t calling me today; I can’t even see them, shrouded as they are in whiteout. I won’t get any nice photos. It almost certainly won’t turn out to be one of those best-
