Summer Family Fun at The Market Common: Free Carriage Rides, Movies & Farmers Market
Last week, I treated my 4-year-old son to a special 'date night' at his favorite spot, Peace Love and Little Donuts in The Market Common. After enjoying our delicious donuts, we took a complimentary carriage ride through the charming, tree-lined streets. He had an absolute blast!
Throughout the summer, The Market Common offers free carriage rides every Tuesday evening from 6 to 9 p.m. Pick-up and drop-off is in front of Dolce Lusso Salon and Spa at 3050 Howard Avenue. Rides last 6-7 minutes, so lines move quickly. We arrived 30 minutes early to finish our donuts and were only third in line.
The horse is magnificent, the drivers friendly, and evenings bring cooler temperatures with refreshing ocean breezes. The area enjoys low vehicle traffic, enhancing the relaxed vibe. Beyond summer, rides are available on holidays like Valentine's Day, Halloween, and throughout the Christmas season. Families of all ages love them—we finally joined the fun!
Two more summer highlights: Friday 'Movies Under the Stars' at Valor Park, starting at dusk (around 8:45-9 p.m.) through August 2. Bring blankets and lawn chairs for family-friendly films.
Saturday mornings feature the Waccamaw Market Cooperative on pedestrian-friendly Deville Street from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., with fresh local produce, meats, baked goods, and more—running through September. It also returns Wednesday evenings from 3 to 7 p.m.
