Tashara Parker's Ideal Dallas Day: Brunch, Runs, and Music
What does a perfect day look like for you? Good food, quality time with friends? We asked Dallas traffic anchor and journalist Tashara Parker. The Houston native has called the city home since November and has quickly identified a few favorite spots that feel like home. Here’s a snapshot of Parker’s ideal Dallas day.
Morning: A typical weekday for Parker starts before sunrise. On weekends, if she’s not shooting an interview, she values extra rest. “A perfect morning is simply winding down until about 9 or 10 a.m., which is late for me,” she says. “I often meet friends for brunch at places like Ellen’s and Bread Winners, which I love.”
Afternoon: While her wardrobe is colorful on‑air, Parker isn’t a mall‑shopping fan. “I prefer outdoor activities,” she explains. “Running on the Trinity Skyline Trail lets me enjoy nature.”
Evening: As the sun sets, Parker’s evening entertainment centers on music. “Deep Ellum and Fair Park are my go‑to spots,” she says. “Sandaga 813 is fantastic—there’s a patio with barbecue—and I also enjoy The Statler’s rooftop in downtown.”
The COVID‑19 pandemic has reshaped many interactions, but it has also highlighted Dallas’s vibrant local scene. Parker notes that the increased focus on Black‑owned businesses has introduced her to hidden gems like Invasion, Val’s Cheesecakes, and The Island Spot. “2020 was a strange year,” she reflects. “It has been a blessing to meet new people and support diverse businesses.”
