Jeremy Biggers’ Ideal Day in Dallas: Family, Art, and Inspiration
When asked about his perfect day, Dallas‑based artist Jeremy Biggers paints a vivid picture: a blend of family moments, local art, and creative flow. With a diverse portfolio that spans painting and photography, Biggers’s work is everywhere in the city, yet most of his time is devoted to his home life with his wife and 2‑year‑old daughter.
Morning: "I’m a bit unconventional with my schedule, so any chance to spend time with my daughter and wife is a great start," Biggers explains. "We begin the day watching a little TV together. The space we live in fuels my creativity, and I’m passionate about supporting local artists. My wife and I make it a point to purchase pieces from Dallas creators, many of whom we know personally. For instance, I collaborated with Hatziel Flores on the mural of late rapper Nipsey Hussle at Oak Cliff’s Gendale Shopping Center, and I’ve worked with Carlos Donjuan of the Sour Grapes Crew collective."
Afternoon: Lunch is a family affair at Vegan Food House, a spot recommended by a vegan friend. "Their food is amazing," Biggers says. The afternoon often ends with visits to art spaces such as Dallas Contemporary and Conduit Gallery, followed by a creative session in his home studio—an extra bedroom transformed into a maker’s space. He typically works while his daughter naps, ensuring uninterrupted focus.
Evening: As the day winds down, Biggers roams Dallas’s vibrant streets, especially Deep Ellum. He sometimes stops by Off the Record or Club Dada for live music. After a night out, the family heads to Velvet Taco or Mama Mia’s in Deep Ellum for dinner.
Since March, the pandemic and broader social unrest have reshaped daily life, and the family has taken extra precautions to protect their mental well‑being. "With everything happening—COVID, police brutality, and more—I’ve had to be mindful of my mental health and avoid over‑consumption," Biggers shares. "It’s influenced my creative output because there’s a lot on my mind."
To decompress, the family goes on walks together. When he needs solitude, Biggers takes solo strolls through Downtown or Deep Ellum, capturing spontaneous photographs. His wife finds her release playing Call of Duty when he’s away.
