A Day in Dallas with Cimone Key: From Morning Workouts to Evening Jazz

When you imagine a perfect day, what fills it? For Dallas‑based brand strategist Cimone Key, the answer blends healthy habits, cultural enrichment, and culinary delights. Key, the owner of Cimone Key Creative Studio and CK Creative Desk, a branding agency and coworking hub in Dallas' Design District, shares her routine. “This is the longest I’ve been in one place,” Key explains. “I started my career here and launched my business here. Dallas is a city of ambition, entrepreneurs, and endless opportunities.”

Morning: “I love to work out in the morning,” Key says. She alternates between a home gym and Teamroc Fitness in North Dallas. After the session she drafts a to‑do list for herself and her team, then heads to the office for the daily kickoff. While she’s not a big coffee or tea fan, weekends are special. She and her fiancé enjoy a trip to Jonathan’s Oak Cliff, where the chicken‑and‑waffles are a local favorite.

Afternoon: The Dallas Museum of Art is a must‑visit. “I love that there’s always a new exhibit,” Key notes. The museum experience was sorely missed during the pandemic, and she’s thrilled to return. She also loves Klyde Warren Park—lunch at the food trucks, fresh air, and a relaxed vibe.

Evening: “Deep Ellum is my night‑time playground,” she shares. A foodie at heart, she’ll stop by Emporium Pies for their signature pies, grab beignets from Le Bon Temps, and sample the renowned hotdogs, wings, and nachos at Angry Dog. For a touch of live jazz and a concert, the House of Blues is a staple.

Like many creatives, Key has had to adapt to COVID‑19 restrictions while keeping her business running. She’s recently taken time for herself, celebrating her birthday with a staycation at Virgin Hotels Dallas and planning future culinary adventures. One such destination is Ferris Wheelers Backyard & BBQ, whose barbecue is highly praised.

On the #ShopLocal front, Key relies on Brown Bag Provisions, located inside the International on Turtle Creek Design Center—the same complex that houses her studio. “Their grilled cheese BLT, topped with a fried egg, is a hit,” she says. “They bake their own bread from scratch, and I love supporting a small business.”
