Stunning Lake Charles Sunset: #VisitLakeCharles Photo of the Month Winner

In today's digital world, most of us read blogs on mobile devices—and that's perfectly fine. As a tech enthusiast in my professional role, I fully embrace it. Yet, I often crave the great outdoors: hiking the trails of Sam Houston Jones State Park, paddleboarding on Prien Lake, or spotting wildlife along the Creole Nature Trail. These daydreams always feature Southwest Louisiana favorites like po'boys, boudin, and crawfish.

Nothing inspires outdoor and culinary adventures quite like the stunning photos shared with #VisitLakeCharles. Bryan Butts' capture of the I-210 Bridge bathed in vibrant purple-pink sunset hues had me yearning to kayak the waters or relax on the shore to experience it firsthand.

I connected with Bryan for his insights behind the lens:

"As a lifelong Louisiana resident, I love showcasing Southwest Louisiana's beauty and our favorite activities. Recently transitioning from portrait to landscape photography, I linked up with local photographer Tim Fontenot via the SWLA Connected App. This shot came from our joint session.

"My goal was a mirror-smooth water texture reflecting the sky's colors, plus the misty effect of waves on the rocks. It was the evening's final shot as light faded post-sunset."

Congratulations, Bryan! Your vision earned you October's Photo of the Month title.

Share your outdoor and culinary adventures with #VisitLakeCharles for a chance to win.

  • End of the Rainbow: Stunning #VisitLakeCharles Photo of the Month Winner

One of the magical highlights of Southwest Louisiana is its dramatic skies. While the world shares one sun and moon, our sunrises and sunsets feel uniquely tailored for us here in Lake Charles. Rainbows add an extra layer of wonder. Theyre rare and fleeting, and my roadside snaps often include windshield glare or mirrors. But @PhoteauxBien nailed the perfect shot, prompting the timeless question: What lies at the end of that rainbow? I captured this after a rain shower at Turners Bay. My hus
