Alternative Perspectives: #VisitLakeCharles Photo of the Month Winner
Ever recall a memory only to have friends or family insist, "That didn't happen!" Or do a double-take because you swore you saw something that wasn't there? It happens to me often. These alternative memories and visual illusions sometimes reflect what we wish were real—perhaps our soul whispering to our brain.
This month's #VisitLakeCharles Photo of the Month by photographer Pratik Thapa sparked thoughts on unique points of view and how we each perceive and remember differently. Artistic interpretation lets us express preferred visions or dreams we'd love to make true.
At first glance, Pratik's image appeared as another stunning Creole Nature Trail sunset. But Pratik revealed he enhanced it: he captured a familiar scene and added elements not present in reality.

"That day, I set out to photograph a favorite spot. I packed my gear and headed to Sabine National Wildlife Refuge. It was a beautiful sunset—the sun turning orange as it dipped below the horizon. I used tall grass as foreground and the sky as background. Later, I drew and added birds for greater impact," Pratik shared.
Those birds aren't real! You fooled me, Pratik. While memories and eyes can trick us, these "tricks" might be our spirit nudging us to turn dreams into reality. Keep your heart and eyes open to new opportunities—or at least express your positive vision and discover fresh perspectives.
