Lake Charles' 150th Anniversary: Stunning #VisitLakeCharles Photo of the Month

Lake Charles marked its 150th anniversary as a city with a spectacular fireworks display that lit up the night sky over the lake.

In Southwest Louisiana, we have plenty to celebrate. Visitors flock here from near and far to enjoy our vibrant city. Family and friends always rave about their experiences, and we're proud of our recent ranking as the #2 Small Destination in the U.S.

Lake Charles offers endless attractions. This month's #VisitLakeCharles Photo of the Month, captured by Summer Richard-Boudreaux, captures that magic perfectly—just like the sesquicentennial fireworks.

Lake Charles 150th Anniversary: Stunning #VisitLakeCharles Photo of the Month

"This photo was taken during a sunset dinner cruise with friends. My goal was one great shot of the finale with the city skyline. On a whim, I captured the entire sequence—115 shots—then stacked them over an HDR cityscape for this composite. It was one of the best fireworks shows I've seen!"

Outstanding work, Summer! This image truly impresses.

Growing up amid the piney woods, I frequently took these walks, weaving imaginative stories for the animals and birds I encountered. Those were truly memorable days. Yet, I seldom considered that nature might be watching me. Our latest Photo of the Month captures this intriguing reversal during a hike in the Sabine National Wildlife Refuge. Talented photographer Jennifer Carrera snapped this shot—ca
