Curated Links We Love: July 7, 2012 – Armchair Travel Edition

Links We Love, a compendium of what we're loving right now. Happy armchair traveling.

Pavia, founder/CEO

This July 4 holiday weekend, Jeralyn went to Italy and Crysal went to Shanghai. Berit and I stayed local to New York City, but because I was in the Hamptons, I missed the fireworks over the Hudson River. Instead I watched this big pyrotechnic extravaganza from 2008, especially dgging the action at :58, 1:02, and 1:10, and the memory-lane version of "The Star Spangled Banner."

And isn't this clever: a typograhic tour of Toronto. (Thanks, Brain Pickings, for the tip.)

I've got vacation on my mind. This Ying Yangs blog loads up on summer jamz, soundtracks, and esoteric music videos that are perfect for road trip and beach blanket time.

Berit, assistant editor

I'm infatuated with Iowa-based artist Sayuri Sasaki's Urban Aquarium. A display case at Portland International Airport has been hung with seven different species of handmade jellyfish and lined with felted coral and kelp to create a magical underwater world.

I've never really been into sleeping outdoors, but The New York Times' round-up of camping websites makes me want to buy a bag of marshmallows, invest in a quality tent, and plan a long weekend in the wilderness.
