Capturing Timeless Moments: #VisitLakeCharles Photo of the Month Winner
Long exposure photography has captivated me lately. This technique employs extended shutter speeds to sharply render stationary subjects while blurring motion, creating mesmerizing effects. Fans of Visit Lake Charles have shared stunning examples, like this one from Maggie Gregory.

"I love photographing before sunrise and after sunset. While walking the boardwalk one evening, capturing scenes that caught my eye, I spotted the Lake Charles seawall and knew a long exposure was perfect. The lights and their reflections were stunning, so I set up my tripod and captured this vibrant array of colors. I've lived in Lake Charles for two years and have fallen in love with its landscapes, photographing them often."
Like Maggie, many photographers rise before dawn or linger into the night, patiently waiting for the ideal shot—especially with long exposures or time-lapses. This inspired me to adopt a "long exposure philosophy": slow down, savor your surroundings, and truly capture the moment. How often do we make time for what we love?
