Polaroid of the Week: Datuk Wira Dr. Gan Boon Leong, Melaka s Legendary Bodybuilding Icon

Last week, we returned to Malaysia and finally visited Melaka, a UNESCO World Heritage City. We expected quaint Chinese temples, colonial relics from Portuguese, Dutch, and British rule, picturesque shophouses, and vibrant trishaws like those in our favorite spot, Georgetown, Penang.

What surprised us most were four massive golden and bronze statues of a bodybuilder—Datuk Wira Dr. Gan Boon Leong, Melaka's most renowned figure. Born in 1937, he is Malaysia's most decorated bodybuilder, with triumphs like Mr. Asia and Mr. Universe. Known as the 'Father of Bodybuilding in Malaysia,' this 85-year-old legend now serves as a local politician, owns a gym in Melaka, and leads the Malaysian Bodybuilding Federation. The city honors his legacy with these statues, now as iconic as its historic landmarks.

  • Polaroid of the Week: My Emotional Return to London After Nearly 5 Years

On my journey from New York to Sri Lanka, I made a brief stopover in London—the city I left in 2010 to explore the world. Back then, I never imagined it would take nearly five years to return. London has always been one of my favorite cities globally. Even after nearly half a decade of worldwide travel, it remains one of just three places Id consider calling home: New York, London, and Berlin. Returning after such a long absence proved deeply emotional. Im not sure if Ill expand on it further,

This photogenic paradise offers breathtaking landscapes, waterfalls, geysers, coastlines, and glaciers around every corner. I selected this striking icy scene—perfect for the Land of Ice—and cant wait to share more Icelandic wonders with you. Completing the full Ring Road circuit in one week was ambitious, but my travel companion Rease and I reveled in Icelands

  • Polaroid of the Week: Serene Canal Stroll in Amsterdam

I’ve launched my European train adventure, and the first rides were exceptional. My inaugural journey whisked me from Berlin to Amsterdam in under seven hours—a city I’ve explored multiple times, though my last visit was over a decade ago. With rave reviews of its beauty and my hazy memories, I spontaneously included it in my Euro train itinerary. Amsterdam’s distinctive charm captivated me instantly upon arrival: its iconic canals, legions of bicycles, stunning 17th-century merchant houses wi
