Photo of the Week: Majestic Tea Plantations in Malaysia's Cameron Highlands

After nearly two weeks enduring Kuala Lumpur's sweltering heat, we sought relief in the refreshing Cameron Highlands of central Malaysia. Perched at 1,200 meters (3,937 feet) above sea level, this highland retreat delivers consistently cool temperatures around 25°C (77°F), often punctuated by invigorating afternoon showers.
Our days were filled with rainforest hikes, a visit to a strawberry farm (complete with delicious sundaes), exploration of a mystical mossy forest, and an insightful tour of the renowned BOH Tea Plantation—Malaysia's leading tea producer. Here, black tea thrives on over 600 acres of steep, rolling hills, where vibrant green bushes form a breathtaking patchwork across the landscape.
A British pioneer recognized the ideal climate for tea cultivation in the late 19th century, importing skilled workers from India and Sri Lanka to tend the crops.
Savoring freshly harvested tea on the BOH factory's stunning glass terrace amid the misty afternoon was a highlight—pure bliss and rejuvenation.
