Polaroid of the Week: Costa Rica s Stunning New Colón Banknotes

Since our last visit to Costa Rica in February 2011, the country has unveiled redesigned colón banknotes that are so captivating, we're hesitant to spend them. (The 15,000 colónes pictured are worth about US$30.)

Renowned for its biodiversity, Costa Rica celebrates this heritage on its currency with vibrant images of sloths, monkeys, birds, sharks, butterflies, deer, sea turtles, scorpions, and starfish, alongside natural wonders like the Guanacaste tree, cloud forests, coral reefs, and mangroves. These rank among the world's most creative banknotes.

Have you traveled to countries with beautiful currency? Do you save small, pretty bills as souvenirs?

Exciting new posts are lined up and ready to publish. After an unforgettable first weekend in Berlin, we kept the momentum going with vibrant street art hunts, classic German breakfasts, our first-ever vegetarian currywurst, breathtaking sunsets over Tempelhof Airport (one of my favorite city gems), and an

  • Polaroid of the Week: My Emotional Return to London After Nearly 5 Years

On my journey from New York to Sri Lanka, I made a brief stopover in London—the city I left in 2010 to explore the world. Back then, I never imagined it would take nearly five years to return. London has always been one of my favorite cities globally. Even after nearly half a decade of worldwide travel, it remains one of just three places Id consider calling home: New York, London, and Berlin. Returning after such a long absence proved deeply emotional. Im not sure if Ill expand on it further,
