Isla Mujeres: Mexico's Stunning Caribbean Island Paradise – Polaroid of the Week

Isla Mujeres: Mexico s Stunning Caribbean Island Paradise – Polaroid of the WeekIn 2010, I took a day trip to Isla Mujeres from Playa del Carmen and instantly fell in love with this tiny Caribbean gem. Crystal-clear turquoise waters, powdery white-sand beaches, and palm trees swaying gently in the breeze made for an unforgettable day. Nearly six years later, I returned for a weekend getaway to cap off my Mexico adventure—a perfect finale that made parting bittersweet. Though I'll return to Mexico soon, this road trip's end was especially poignant.

As the final stop on our road trip, Isla Mujeres was ideal. Compact enough to explore fully by golf cart in half a day, we savored lazy beach hours, swing-bar beers, and the perfect palm-shaded spots for our towels—no regrets about missing a thing.

While no longer a sleepy fishing village, Isla Mujeres remains a serene paradise. Less crowded than Cancun (just a 20-minute ferry away), it avoids spring break chaos, even on weekends. I'm surprised its charm stayed under the radar so long.

Next time, I'll stay a full week…
