Polaroid of the Week: Stunning Sunset with Surfers in San Pancho, Mexico

Polaroid of the Week: Stunning Sunset with Surfers in San Pancho, MexicoAfter several rainy, gray, and chilly days in Guadalajara, I decided to cut my stay short and head to the coast. My plan: Sayulita, a vibrant surfer town on Mexico's Pacific coast, followed by the even smaller San Pancho just a few miles north. Friends had raved about their winter there years ago.

The decision proved perfect. I boarded a bus in pouring rain from Guadalajara, but just hours later, the downpour cleared, revealing lush tropical scenery. Four hours in, I stepped off beside a vendor selling fresh coconuts straight from the palm. The humid, warm air felt like home.

Since arriving, I've immersed myself in beach life in Sayulita and San Pancho: watching skilled surfers, savoring daily spectacular sunsets with a cold beer, cooling off with ocean dips. I've hiked jungles, run along the coast, sipped fresh coconuts, and indulged in endless tacos. Though laptop hours persist, beach recharges make it all worthwhile.

Over 1 million gathered for this year’s bicentennial spectacle. That evening, a national military parade marc
