Loft Hostel Reykjavik: Premier Choice for Travelers – Honest Review
When researching accommodations in Reykjavik, Loft Hostel stood out immediately. Stunning room photos, prime location, and glowing reviews sparked my interest. Yet, appearances can deceive—vibe, service, or upkeep might fall short.
Upon arrival at Loft Hostel Reykjavik, my concerns vanished. The fourth-floor reception adjoins a vibrant common area packed with travelers sharing stories over happy hour drinks. The energetic atmosphere drew me in, preferring to socialize rather than retreat after a long journey.
Our deluxe private room, shared with my companion, impressed with modern wall art elevating the space beyond typical hostel fare. An armchair and desk enhanced livability and coziness. The desk proved useful thanks to reliable Wi-Fi throughout, including the top-floor communal loft.
The highlight? The supremely comfortable double bed, tempting me to linger amid morning rain. Hunger prevailed, drawn by rave reviews of the hostel's breakfast value.
At 1,550 ISK (about US$11.86), breakfast delivered exceptional value—especially in pricey Iceland. Unlimited refills featured breads, bagels, cheeses, cold cuts, yogurt, cereal, fresh fruit, coffee, tea, and irresistible chocolate croissants.
Budget travelers appreciate the spotless, fully equipped kitchen stocked with spices, condiments, and shared leftovers—one of the best I've encountered. The lounge buzzes at night with mingling guests, comfy couches, tables, and a movie projector. A warmer visit would allow rooftop terrace enjoyment.
Loft's location on bustling Laugavegur—Reykjavik's main downtown street with shops, bars, and eateries—is unbeatable. Minutes away: Hallgrímskirkja church, Sun Voyager sculpture, Harpa Concert Hall, souvenirs, and groceries. Parking was easy in this compact capital of 120,000.
Reception staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly. Loft Hostel embodies the ideal: comfortable, social, amenity-rich. Perfect launchpad for an Iceland road trip.
Highly recommended!
