Begin your adventure at dawn over Ship Creek, watching wild Alaska salmon battle upstream during summer months. At the creek mouth—Dgheyay Kaq' in the traditional Dena’ina Athabascan language—keep an eye out for seals or beluga whales. Hike 2.5 miles east along the Ship Creek Trail to the William Jack Hernandez Sport Fish Hatchery, home to 100 rearing tanks producing over 6 million fish annually.
As sunset approaches, drive to Point Woronzof for breathtaking views of Mount Susitna, moose foraging roadside, and departing jets from Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport.

Post-lunch, head to the Alaska Zoo for up-close views of native species like bears, wolves, musk oxen, and reindeer, plus exotic favorites such as tigers and camels.
Conclude atop Glen Alps with hikes on Blueberry Hill or Flattop Mountain, sunset vistas, and chances to see moose or bears roaming the Chugach Front Range.
