The Clay Wildlife Management Area covers 8,953 acres across Nicholas, Fleming, and Bath Counties. Managed by the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources, it offers premier opportunities for hunting, hiking, boating, horseback riding, and camping.
Located approximately eight miles northeast of Carlisle, the WMA is accessible via KY 32 north followed by KY 57 (Cassidy Creek Rd.). Two clearly marked entrances welcome visitors; watch for area signage.
The terrain ranges from steep ridges to rolling hills. Several boat ramps provide access to the Licking River, and dedicated horseback‑riding trails are available on the main Nicholas County tract.
Note: The area is closed during quota fox‑hunting field trials. Portions were acquired with funds from the Heritage Lands Conservation Fund.
