Louisiana Fur & Wildlife Festival: Cameron's Annual Outdoor Tradition Since 1955

Calling all sports enthusiasts, families, and outdoor lovers! The coastal town of Cameron, Louisiana, hosts its annual Fur & Wildlife Festival on January 9-10, 2015. This longstanding event, entertaining attendees since 1955, features thrilling competitions including duck and goose calling, retrieval dog trials, nutria and muskrat skinning, trap setting, skeet shooting, and oyster shucking.

Food vendors offer classic fair treats alongside Louisiana favorites like alligator sausage, jambalaya, boudin, gumbo, smoked sausage, and crawfish.

A highlight is the gumbo cook-off, complemented by carnival rides for all ages. The Pageant Queen, King, and attendants are crowned Friday evening.

Saturday brings a morning 5K run, antique car show, festival parade at 1:30 p.m., and an alligator skinning demonstration at 4:30 p.m.

Live music features Bag of Donuts, Chubby Carrier and the Bayou Swamp Band, John Dale Hebert, Water’s Edge, and Leroy Thomas and the Zydeco Road Runners.
