4 Compelling Reasons to Attend the Louisiana Pirate Festival
1. Dress Like a Pirate
Channel your inner buccaneer and join fellow pirates at the Pirate Costume Ball, the festival's premier event honoring Jean Lafitte. The Buccaneer Room at the Lake Charles Civic Center transforms into a vibrant Caribbean island with palm trees and lively parrots. Dance the night away to performances by the Mixed Nuts—no peg leg will hold you back!
Families can enter children in the Children’s Pirate Costume Contest for added fun.

2. Exceptional Live Music
With 15 acts across both weekends, the stages come alive with local and regional talent. Highlights include Bluesiana Red, Sean Ardoin & Zydekool, Rusty Metoyer & The Zydeco Krush, Flamethrowers, Amanda Shaw, and country star Dylan Scott. Check out the full music lineup here.

Spot wandering performers like the Whiskey Bay Rovers delivering pirate shanties throughout the grounds—join in the festivities!
3. Delectable Food Offerings
Festival food steals the show with favorites like chicken, sausage, or beef on a stick, massive turkey legs, and irresistible fried treats. This year emphasizes local vendors, including Cajun Ambrosia’s gyros, Dave and Jay’s Seafood from Westlake, gourmet popsicles from Pops and Rockets, and shaved ice snocones from Gumbeaux Sneaux. Cap it off with the Cajun Pirate Barbecue Cook-off.

4. Endless Family-Friendly Events
This two-week land-and-water extravaganza offers activities for all ages. Favorites return like bed and bathtub races and arm wrestling, joined by new hits such as the Gator Grand Prix and McDonald’s Little Matey Children’s area with magic shows, puppets, story time, kids’ cooking classes, and the Pirate’s Parrot Show.

Water events include the pirogue build-and-race contest, Pirate Boat Parade, sailboat regatta, and the playful Show Me Your Dinghy competition.
The Louisiana Pirate Festival runs from Thursday, May 3, through Sunday, May 13. View the full schedule at www.louisianapiratefestival.com.
