Man's Best Friend Steals the Spotlight: #VisitLakeCharles Photo of the Month

Our pets are cherished family members, and they join us on every adventure. This holds especially true for my own pup, who thrives on a break from routine just like I do. Lake Charles offers perfect spots for pet outings, including walkable historic districts, downtown areas, local parks—with three dedicated dog parks—and trails at Sam Houston Jones State Park for adventurous dogs. Pampered pooches can even dine al fresco at several pet-friendly restaurants.

Photographer Luke Eddleman's stunning image of his Siberian Husky, Ghost, relaxing downtown at Luna Live captures the essence of a pup living her best life—and she's incredibly photogenic!

Man s Best Friend Steals the Spotlight: #VisitLakeCharles Photo of the Month

“I frequent Luna Live, and Ghost tags along most visits. On this day, I was in full photography mode, and she patiently posed while we scouted spots. We returned for water, and I spotted the perfect setup with Albert Einstein nearby. She rested beautifully as I snapped away. I adore downtown's local art scene and photographing Ghost even more.”

One of my favorite outdoor pursuits is a leisurely nature walk paired with wildlife observation. Growing up amid the piney woods, I frequently took these walks, weaving imaginative stories for the animals and birds I encountered. Those were truly memorable days. Yet, I seldom considered that nature might be watching me. Our latest Photo of the Month captures this intriguing reversal during a hike in the Sabine National Wildlife Refuge. Talented photographer Jennifer Carrera snapped this shot—ca
