Buffi’s Peaux Boys Makes a Strong Comeback in Downtown Lake Charles

Text “Buffis” to 474747 for personal updates.

Po-boys are a Louisiana staple, and Buffi’s Peaux Boys in Lake Charles has long been a local favorite—voted among the Top 20 Restaurants in Southwest Louisiana by residents. In Cajun and Creole Country, culinary competition is fierce, so this accolade speaks volumes. When Hurricane Laura devastated the restaurant in late August 2020, loyal fans were heartbroken.

We spoke with owner Paige Vidrine about navigating recovery from this powerful storm. Read the Q&A below and follow Buffi’s on social media for spring reopening updates.

Buffi’s Peaux Boys Makes a Strong Comeback in Downtown Lake Charles

Q: What have you learned from your Buffi’s fans in the Lake Area over the past months?

A: Our raving fans are the heart of the business. Amid tough times, they reach out for comfort—our food is woven into their lives. This drives us to push forward for them.

Q: What keeps you motivated during these challenges?

A: Motivation waned after Laura, but a profound spiritual shift refocused me on life’s priorities. Struggle clears distractions. My drive stems from embracing uncertainty and daily perseverance—trying again each day.

Q: Any menu changes for the reopening?

A: The biggest update: Elevating Kaddie LeJeune to managing partner. She joined early at the Ryan Street location, rising quickly despite 20+ years overlooked in the industry. Her passion for cooking shone through. Loyal and exceptional, she now has a stake in the business. Her plate lunches are now permanent menu fixtures!

Q: New or same location on Ryan Street?

A: Ryan Street needs extensive repairs, so we secured a prime spot at 345 Broad St. in Downtown Lake Charles.

Q: What atmosphere are you creating at Buffi’s?

A: A New Orleans-style po-boy deli with gourmet flair. We’re excited to build a lively nightlife vibe for downtown dwellers!

Q: Your takeaway quote or mantra for tough times?

A: During COVID quarantine anxiety, I repeated: “We are going to come out of this better than we came in.” It became my 2020 mantra—and it held true. We’ve emerged with clearer minds, stronger hearts, and renewed determination to serve.

Q: Key details for reopening?

A: Hours: Daily 11 a.m. - 8 p.m. / (337) 602-6949. Order via Waitr or call ahead.

Q: Anything else to share?

A: Buffi’s is more than food—it’s Lake Charles culture. We’re grateful for your support and passion. You fuel our commitment to serve for years ahead!
