Epic American Road Trip: Our Arrival in New Orleans – First Impressions from the Big Easy
Welcome to the Big Easy—NOLA, N'awlins, whatever you call it. We've reached New Orleans, the thrilling finale of our NYC-to-NOLA road trip! After eight unforgettable stops (New York, Philadelphia, Washington DC, Asheville, Charlotte, Charleston, Savannah, and Atlanta), just 24 hours here have us completely captivated by this vibrant city.

Following the footsteps of countless travelers, we headed straight to the iconic French Quarter upon arrival, landing on legendary Bourbon Street as dusk fell. Exhausted from the 8-hour drive, we called it an early night but plan to return for a classic Hurricane cocktail. We're staying at the luxurious InterContinental New Orleans, ensuring restful sleep during our five-night adventure.

We started the day with brunch at the legendary Court of Two Sisters, a New Orleans staple. A mellow jazz band set the perfect ambiance, complemented by inventive Cajun seafood dishes. Plenty of vegetarian options satisfied us before strolling to the Mississippi River via Jackson Square, then venturing to the Garden District.

Expansive blocks of stunning historic mansions line leafy boulevards, making our peaceful 4-mile walk a serene highlight.
A quick snack turned into a hearty meal at Mahony's Po-Boy Shop on Magazine Street, where we savored Fried Green Tomatoes and an Eggplant Parmigiana Po-Boy—a Louisiana classic—before browsing the street's charming independent shops.

We hopped aboard the adorable St. Charles Avenue streetcar to Lafayette Square for the New Orleans Seafood Festival kickoff. While the menu wasn't vegetarian-friendly, the energetic Zydeco performance by Rockin' Dopsie Jr. was a treat. Seafood lovers and Zydeco fans: mark your calendars for next year!

Special thanks to the New Orleans Convention and Visitors Bureau for their invaluable assistance and to Hotel InterContinental for our comfortable stay.
