Epic American Road Trip: NYC to New Orleans (NYC2NOLA 2011)

New York to New Orleans

It's an exciting week for GlobetrotterGirls, and we're thrilled to share it with you! Nothing beats a classic summer road trip, so we're kicking off our Great American Road Trip: NYC2NOLA 2011. Starting in New York City, we'll drive through Philadelphia, Washington, DC, Richmond, VA, and Colonial Williamsburg, then hit North and South Carolina, Savannah and Atlanta, Georgia, before arriving in New Orleans by mid-September 2011.

We'll immerse ourselves in local culture, traditions, and cuisine, hunting down quirky roadside attractions—like the rumored Lost Luggage Museum—and sticking to scenic back roads whenever possible.

Along the way, we'll witness historic moments: the dedication of the new Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial in Washington, DC; Labor Day celebrations in Savannah, Georgia; and the 10th anniversary of 9/11 in resilient New Orleans.

Follow our journey daily with at least three photos—featuring food, cityscapes, or roadside oddities. 'Like' our GlobetrotterGirls Facebook Fan Page for the Photo of the Day, and track us on Twitter @travelworklive with #NYC2NOLA or #roadtrip.
