Polaroid of the Week: Vintage Car in Charming Bisbee, Arizona

We’re back in Tucson, Arizona! We first housesat here in May-June 2010 at the start of our world travels, and we absolutely love returning to care for the adorable Miss Millie.
Last weekend, we explored Bisbee, a quaint town 90 miles south of Tucson. Though it feels like time has stood still in this incredibly charming spot, Bisbee is a progressive community. We timed our visit perfectly for their annual Pride weekend, joining a laid-back yet vibrant celebration. Home to fewer than 6,000 residents, this former mining town belies its size with a massive copper mine—a vast, multi-tiered pit resembling a meteor crater. It’s easy to picture it in its heyday, buzzing with thousands of workers.
After the mine closed, Bisbee reinvented itself in the 1970s as an artists’ commune. Today, creativity thrives: think art galleries, colorful murals and street graffiti, indie boutiques, and quirky coffee shops lining the main street. If you’re in southern Arizona, a trip to Bisbee is a must—we were utterly enchanted!
