Welcome to our Hotel Tip of the Week series. With years of global travel under our belt, we've stayed at countless hotels—some exceptional, others forgettable. This series shares only the true standouts we've personally vetted. This week: Kospi Boutique Guesthouse in Bariloche, Argentina.

Upon arriving in Bariloche, Argentina, with my 60-liter backpack, an unexpected delight unfolded. A friendly, bearded local approached, looked me in the eye, and asked, “Are you Jess?”

Hesitant but hopeful, I replied “Yes,” wondering if this meant skipping the hassle of taxis or buses. He extended his hand with a warm smile: “I’m Juan from Kospi Boutique Guesthouse. Nice to meet you.”

Kospi Boutique Guesthouse Review: A Cozy Gem in Bariloche, Argentina | Hotel Tip of the WeekJust six weeks into operations, Kospi offered this personalized airport pickup—a testament to owners Juan and Lucia's dedication. After studying in Buenos Aires, the couple traveled extensively, gaining over 1.5 years of experience at luxury five-star hotels in New Zealand. They returned to renovate Juan’s grandfather’s home on Mitre Street, a prime tourist spot just 15 minutes from Bariloche’s vibrant center.

All eight en-suite rooms feel compact yet inviting, with supremely comfortable beds and pillows. The fresh renovations blend seamlessly with original 1950s charm, like stunning tiles and built-in toothbrush holders.

The modern stove, fully equipped kitchen with cutlery, crockery, fridge, microwave, and spacious wooden dining table make self-catering effortless. Lucia often whips up meals here or works on her laptop.

Don't miss her homemade granola—it's among South America's finest.

The living room features a flat-screen TV with international channels, movies, and surround sound—perfect for unwinding. Upstairs, a cozy nook offers a loveseat, chairs, soon-to-be-added computers, a budding tomato plant, and lake views past the towering Araucana tree.

Room for Improvement: Ambient Balance

Early in its launch, Kospi impresses with few tweaks needed. Lucia’s soft jazz during breakfast creates serenity, but Juan’s enthusiastic chats can sometimes overshadow. With time, a more relaxed hosting style will let guests connect naturally.
